Thirteen people who were arrested by the CBI last evening in connection with communal violence in Gopalgarh town of Bharatpur district, were today remanded in two-day CBI custody. The accused were brought here this morning and produced before the CBI Special Court here, which granted two-day police remand. About two dozen people were yesterday summoned for interrogation of which 13 were later taken into custody. As many as 10 persons were killed and more than 15 injured in the violence on September 14 in Gopalgarh town of Meo-dominated Kaman region at Bharatpur.
The state government has constituted a one-member Judicial Commission for probing the reasons and circumstance and the investigation into the case has been referred to the CBI. The then District Collector and District Superintendent of Police and some other police officers have been removed or suspended in the aftermath of the violence.
